Candles

The flame was glowing,
Bright and warm,
The softness of its glow,
Was tender and calm.

Below it there was the wax,
It was melting and flowing, and regrouping, all of its own,
Little did the flame care to know,
The effort the wax was taking.

No word of praise, no feeling of joy,
For the softness of the wax that melts to give others warmth and joy.
All the joy only for the flame,
All the praise only for the flame

Doesn't the wax also need its share of praise?
Doesn't the wax deserve its share of joy?
Why doesn't the flame understand,
All that the wax goes through each time it burns.

What if the flame understands?  What would change?
The wax was destined to live that life,
To melt, and regroup, only to melt again,
And have the courage to regroup all over again, all by its own.

All through this
The wax continues to live with the flame
Never asking or questioning its fate
Happily being the anchor, so that the flame burns bright.

Meaning

why do you come into my life
and then go away
without even telling me
why did you have to come at all?

why do you have to come into my life
and then go away
when i did not ask for you
nor even think about you!

when you did come into my life
and then go away
i was alive before you came,
then, why has life lost meaning after you're gone?

New Life!

Pots and Pans clank aloud,
Walls and doors are a smoky cloud,
Through the sieve, the tap is weeping
The turf turns slippery as the tears are piling!

I envy all my neighbours, who can look at a fair roof,
And dream all day and night,
Here I am staring at depressing dark clouds,
Oh Lord, Why me, Why me, Why me!

That dawn is not too far,
When we all will have a mighty fall,
I will die an untold misery,
With the bricks and the wall!

The floor looked up to the Heavens,
Save me Oh Lord, save me,
Leave apart the grief when I die,
What a gory life this, a strife to live one more day!!

Hearing this, the Lord took mercy on the floor,
Wait my dear, wait till the year is turned,
You have a boon, that you will live,
A life you have not seen in dreams!

With the boon in her ears, dreams were now in her eyes,
She waited, and waited, as each day passed,
Soon the new year came & she turned to be the envy of her every neighbour,
Draped in a shining white gown, she was now the prettiest princess in the town!

Gone are the tears, and the dark clouds,
Every dark cloud before is now a silver lining,
Days now dawn to a view as green as grass,
The tap that weeped is now in a different class!

Every day, the pots and pans play hide and seek,
As they appear from behind their closets,
Sharing happy stories, from every nook,
They now make a tasty recipe, each time they cook!

Thank you Lord, Thank you,
For this new life you have given me,
Every day I have surprises, every moment I am overjoyed,
A small wish now, is, May this joy last forever and ever!

forever ...

i want to be with you for ever and ever,
to be your joy and know your mind
and be just what you want
for ever and ever.

can u be my soul for ever and ever,
be my dream and hear my heart
be with me for real
for ever and ever.

can this be, should this be
how it will be, for now
can i hold this thought for ever and ever
without the yearn for it to surely be.

Couplet!

Once upon a time,
Juliet said, what's in a name ..
That which we call a rose,
By any other name would smell as sweet!

How I wish,
The converse was true,
For then, people like you
Would be as common as your name!

If you have an uncommon name,
How I wish it were not so,
'Cause to me
Your virtues are the rarest to find!

Essence!

There he was, looking ever so smart, in his coat and tie,
His intelligence sparkled in his eyes,
But there was something 'bout him today,
That I could not quite spot!

Adorable in his usual genius self,
As we talked, details of our work,
There was still the doubt, was it the tie, no it wasn't,
Then, what was that something more 'bout him today?

It made him look even nicer,
Subtly adding to his charm and elegance,
What was it 'bout him today,
That made him, oh so Mr. Adorable?

Just before we left for the day,
Here he came to say bye,
I wondered why, why did it sound sweeter than ever before?
As he walked past, it lingered on, Oh Yes, it was the fragrance!

mirror

echoes of the same voice come back,
as was heard before,
like a mirror, that knows
how to reflect, but,
only from troubled history!

it is quite a mystery,
how easily happy sounds are lost,
but all gloom knows
to bounce back at all cost,
each time, with mightier blistery!

why are some lessons,
to be learnt again and again?
why are the same tests,
taken over and over again?
why me!

as if mistakes are repeated
and wisdom is not gained,
am i a dumb soaking sponge,
to soak, hurled hurt, pain and mysery
forever and ever?

will this ever end,
will this ever stop,
where is this mirror
go and break it
dare it does this to anyone again!

Why not the future?

How I wish, I had a crystal ball
And I could see the future,
For if I can know the past
And the present,
Then why not the future?

Why do I have to wait,
For the future to become the present,
To know what it is and how it is,
What's the suspense all about,
If I've got to live through it anyway.

How can not knowing the future,
Make a difference to my present?
If I knew what's coming,
Would it change my present?
For the better or the worse, would it matter?

If the future depends upon the present and past,
Then knowing what's coming, could help change what comes,
And the future that was known, wouldn't be the future anymore,
So, then, if I know the future,
I still would not know!

Now I know, why it is,
That I know the past and the present,
But not the future,
The future cannot be known,
'Cause it's a trend of the past and present!

Deal !

Take away all that is in need,
And not ever to give what is,
Just when the need is most,
T'is the way you deal!

First trials and tests so many,
Then long woes that last no end,
Also take away the lone hopeful glimmer,
T'is the way you deal!

Patience astray, perseverence in dismay,
Though t'is time to turn this round,
No mercy to see, no zeal to feel,
T'is the way you deal!

Bliss is alien, so is peace,
A yearn for joy, a wish for solace,
Now a dream & soon unknown,
T'is the way you deal!

I often wonder ....

I often wonder
How this world came into being,
Why this world came into being,
Who created this wonder?

Where we are today, was this the planned result?
How did this start,
When does it end,
Or are these elements of an uncontrolled chain reaction?

Is it a sequence of miracles
Or a set of accidents,
Or a series of mere coincidences,
Or rather so many planned masterpieces!

The multitude of variety in every single creation
The architectural complexity of every single being
The clockwork precision of every mechanical movement
Is complex to imagine, think or comprehend!

What inspired so much creativity?
What inspired all this innovation?
What inspired this scale and magnitude?
What inspired all this effort?

A poem in 10 minutes!

Here's a poem I recently penned at the "Creativity & Innovation" session in office.
Thought of putting it up here on my blog, just for fun. It is special because it was literally written in 10 minutes, because the instructor chose to start the session by getting us to create some "glial" cells and making us create something of our own ! Einstein had a higher ratio of gleal cells to neurons and was creative! For info about glial cells & Einstein, refer http://www.neuropsychiatryreviews.com/may06/einstein.html

Coming back to my small bit of creativity here goes my poem in 10 minutes!

Here I am ...
Thinking of a poem,
Sitting in a class ...
Trapped in 4 walls!

So what if I am here,
Let my mind escape ...
And dream of all things beautiful
And I am sure to have a poem as wonderful!

It is truly amazing
The power of this mind
Thinking so fast, far and apart,
Thoughts have transformed my whole being!

Sitting in the class I am no longer trapped,
I can now see all what I want,
Dreaming with my eyes wide open,
Here I am, with my poem!

Why ?

Broken cars, windows, chaos everywhere,
Thick clouds of dark smoke, People in tears,
See the blood all over, death and fire;
Are you blind? Why did you have to do this?

Loud sounds of gunshots and bombs,
Inconsolably crying mothers and kids alike,
Listen to these cries of pain, hurt and anger;
Are you deaf? What makes you do all this?

Motivated by obtuse reason and thought, sense and logic,
Think back how you've destroyed & pained in such a flash of time;
The beautiful world that needed centuries of effort to create, nurture and build,
Are you dumb? How can you do all this?

Destruction and sadness, gloom and fear,
Orphaned kids and parents, martyrs and bravehearts,
Feel the loss, pain, fear, chaos, agony and heartbreak,
Don't you have a heart? What will you get after all this?

Good begets good, bad begets bad, if you sow, you shall reap,
An ol saying oft is said, for you there is but one wish,
That your eyes may see, your ears may hear,
Your mind may think and your heart may feel,
All that is true and beautiful.

Felt like a kid again ...

Today I felt like a kid again,
Like I felt when my dad left me to school,
When someone came today with me,
To show the meeting room today!

Today I felt like a kid again,
Like I felt when my dad waited outside the class,
As I entered into the meeting room today,
And someone bid me bye outside the room!

Today I felt like a kid again,
Like I felt carrying my big big school bag,
As I carried the laptop on my back,
And someone came along to leave me!

Today I felt like a kid again,
Like I felt so protected and secure,
Someone came with me in the wind and storm,
Just to leave me at the meeting!

I just feel just like a kid again!!!
I just wish the someone became my dad! :-)
In my next life, I want this to be,
So I'll feel like a kid forever!!

Another new Year!

Another new year is here!

The old year is gone,
With it are all its promises and wishes,
Some kept, many unkept.

Another new year is here,
With it’s new hopes and dreams,
‘Bout fulfillment the next year will tell.

The start of a new year is just so false,
Just another moment in passing time,
When time too an imaginary sketch.

Why then be so unfair,
And celebrate this one moment
And invent new hopes and dreams to glorify a new year?

Why be so cruel,
And cry over the past year,
And dump old aspirations?

Why not carry the dreams with us
As if the new year dawn doesn't matter
'Cause tis so unreal.

Off every moment henceforth...
Create special meaning and memories,
And life will see the difference.

How I miss

How I miss ..
I miss those days

When I would wait for an sms
And send dozens ...

I miss those days
When I would wait longer in office
Not for work, but to catch up on a little chat ....

I miss those days
When my mobile bill was so high
But still I only wished it were higher ...

I miss those days
When I never missed anything
Except when someone went missing ...

I miss those fun filled days
And those dreamy nights
God, will those days ever come back?

Life - What do ye hold for me?

Life - What do ye hold for me?
As I take a walk through the sands of time,And my mind sweeps past my life thus far,

I often think, what is it that I have done,
Was this what I wanted to do?
Was this what I was meant to do?

Then, As I ponder through the realms of future,
And my thoughts fly into what is yet to be,What is it that I've got to do,
Will it be what I want to do?
Will it be what I will really do?

What is this life if it goes past me,
And I don't do what I am meant to do
I don't even do what I want to do
And I just do where life takes me ...
Is this what I am supposed to do?

Did God give me this great vast life

For me to just wander along a preset lifeline,
Did God give me this ability to think
For me to just wonder about why he gave all this to me?
Is this what I am meant to do?

I have enjoyed seeing beautiful things around me,
Hearing sweet voices, beautiful verses, soulful melodies and music,
Feeling the touch of warm wool, soft cotton, a newly born,
Tasting lovely food and drink,
Enjoying the smell of the first rain on mud & flowery fragrances
Isn't this what I was meant to enjoy?

Life - you've given me knowledge,
You've given me the power to reason,
You've given me a whole lifetime,
And, now, I am trying to think,
What is it that I should do with all this you've given me?

There is just one thing I don't have - A goalpost to reach,
The moment I reach one, I yearn to conquer another,
It's probably the journey you want me to enjoy,
That is what I have enjoyed thus far,
Is this what I am meant to do - forever?

Discovering what I should do,
What I am meant to do,
And then doing it,
Would in itself cost me a lifetime, I think,
Life - What do ye hold for me?

Come Soon ..

As I see the beautiful setting sun,
Sitting beside the golden lake,
All alone, there is just one thought,
When will you come ...

When will we walk together
When will we dream together
Why do I feel I know you
And yet I haven't seen you

My hands want to touch you ...
My eyes dream about you ..
My heart seems to miss you ...
It's strange how I don't know you ...

I want to discover all that's beautiful
Want to feel all that's pure
When will we sing the song of life with each other
Oh .. Please come sooon!!!
