Values maketh a man, they say. Indeed, the true character of a person is visible when nobody is watching; and the values that someone adheres to ; or shall we say, the values that someone values, have the potential to dictate decisions and paths taken by that someone at such times, when there is nobody to look up to for guidance OR even nobody to please.
But what if the values that one has created & adhered to over time, are no longer "valued" by the people around? In other words, what if, these are no longer referred to as "values"? In fact, what if, those values become so obsolete that they don't even get considered in a decision making situation. Does continuing to live up to such values make sense?
Which brings us to another question - should one live by their own value system or that which is considered great by the people around? The values that we may have lived upto for years/centuries, may have been great then, but what if they aren't considered great anymore?
Are values so easy to change in the first place?
A scary bunch of questions leading nowhere and quite confusing, I am sure!
I am going to try completing the answers over time. Watch this space!
